A Rose In Bloom

Better than I could be. Not as good as I’d planned.

A Danger to Myself

  • I have a bruise on the heel of my hand from an overly excited evening with a tambourine
  • I have a paper cut on my knuckle from the paper table cloth cover at Macaroni Grill
  • I have a slice on my finger from a pair of scissors I used to open a cardboard box this morning
  • I have a bruise on my right thigh from running into the corner of a counter

And tomorrow night I am pressing my luck by going rollerskating. Go figure...

Week-end
Even though I have only been at work four days this week (and only three days last week) it feels like the days are just dragging on. Mainly because I am tired. Puffy eyes, scratchy voice, constant yawning kind of tired. My trip to DC was fantastic, as I knew it would be. Amazing company, delicious food, fun sights and events, etc. But the week before I left I didn't sleep well and then sleeping in a different bed always makes for restless nights. And since I've been home I've been on the go at work and racking up quality time (read: late nights) with a friend who is moving away tomorrow. I am so ready for the upcoming weekend not because I have exciting plans (although there is a showing of Funny Girl at Paramount I think I'll wake up for) I just want to sleep and be lazy. There are clean sheets waiting for me and comfy pajamas that I may never take off. I've never wanted to the week to end quite like this...

Sabbatical
I leave tomorrow for a little vacation time in DC with Rachel. When I planned this trip a few months ago I was certain that I'd need a break from something by July. I was right. A few days of relaxation, drinking wine, catching up on life, seeing the sights and and wearing a really great bra (just in case) never seemed like such a good idea.

**Those are my toes enjoying the sand and surf in Crystal Beach, Texas**

Have I mentioned that I am having a damn near perfect summer? Well, I am. And it's kinda nice. The perfect blend of sun, water, cocktails and long talks with good friends about everything and nothing in particular. I hope yours is going just as well.
