A Rose In Bloom

Better than I could be. Not as good as I’d planned.

Summer, Summer Summertime*
So I suddenly looked up through the rainy skies and realized it's July. I might have realized it sooner had I not been treading water for the last three weeks. I've lived through two separate house floodings in the last week and a half. That's two separate times the carpets have been ripped up, two separate times that fans as loud as jet engines have been left on for hours to dry things out, two separate times of using a wet vac to suck up the water. A temporary water drainage pump has been installed in the backyard, sandbags are lining the back of my house and a house that once felt roomy is shrinking around me in a way that makes a tiny New York studio apartment feel much bigger than our three bedroom suburban home. The fourth of July fireworks, which were held on Saturday the 7th due to the weather, were almost rained out again. Summer has been a real soggy, bitch.

But when I'm not cursing the weather I've been out enjoying what summer means in a life that is usually bogged down by work. So much is possible when you aren't at work until midnight and on the weekends. I've been hanging out with girlfriends, shopping, movie watching, eating too much and then trying to excercise it off. Drinking too much (in moderation of course) and looking for single, available men. Okay, that last one has been challenging but it's a fun challenge I am willing to take on.

And that's it really. I'm just here, being me enjoying my summer. Not too eciting I realize but sometimes not exciting is just exciting enough.

*Props if you sang that in your head a la DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince.
